The Golden Girls - The OG Galentines

On this Galentine’s Day, I’m sitting here with my Golden Girls mug and feeling thankful that I grew up watching those iconic four women living their best lives in Miami and proving that friendship only gets better with age. 

If you’ve rewatched episodes of The Golden Girls as an adult, you know it hits different now. What once felt like punchlines resting on shoulder pads now feels like a masterclass in evolving womanhood.

Because underneath the sarcasm and cheesecake, they were showing us so much more: women don’t expire, friendship doesn’t have a shelf life, and reinvention is always on the table. 

💛Which Golden Girl Are You?

 

Sophia — the unfiltered one.

The one who says what everyone else is thinking. The truth-teller. The perspective-shifter. She’s lived. She’s seen things. She refuses to sugarcoat life.

We all need a Sophia. Not because she’s gentle — but because she’s honest.

Blanche — the confident one.

The woman who refuses to shrink. She owns her femininity and understands that self-worth isn’t arrogance — it’s alignment.

Blanche set the stage for women to stop apologizing for taking up space.

Dorothy — the boundary setter.

Dry humor. Sharp mind. Zero tolerance for nonsense. She evolved. And once she evolved, she didn’t backslide.

There’s always one friend who models what growth looks like in real time. The one who teaches the rest of us that boundaries are not mean — they’re necessary.

Rose — the soft-hearted, forever blonde.

Optimistic. Believing the best. She leads with kindness in a world that doesn’t always reward it. 

And somehow, that softness translates to strength.

💡The Real Lesson Wasn’t the Jokes

The Golden Girls were chosen family. Four very different women, each with distinct personalities, histories, and perspectives, chose to do life together. 

And that’s the part that feels especially meaningful in this season of life.

Because as women get older, friendships shift. We change careers. We raise kids. We set boundaries. We start over. We become louder in some areas and quieter in others.

Growth can stretch friendships.

But the right ones stretch with you. And the beauty of true friendship is having a circle that genuinely claps when you level up.
