An Excerpt From A Phone Call With Angelina Barron

Me: Oh! I forgot to tell you! I’m officially starting the blog that I’ve been thinking about for the past few years. 

Angelina: Yay! It’s going to be amazing! What made you decide to do it? 

Me: On New Year’s Eve, I was sitting in the hot tub and reflecting on the past year and kind of feeling like I was in a slump both physically and mentally and that’s when it came up with the idea for Sexy 60, which led me to the thought that it’s something I could share with other people and a blog would be a good place to do that. 

Angelina: Absolutely! And then maybe it will lead to your book. 

Me: That’s what I was thinking too. 

Angelina: Great minds think alike. I could see that happening for you. 

Me: Thank you. I would love that so much. I just have to overthink everything first. 

Angelina: But now you’re going for it! That’s the best way to figure things out, right? You have to start somewhere. Just jump. 

Me: Totally. That’s very Steve Harvey of you. I love it. Just Jump. 

Angelina: Build the parachute on the way down. What have you got so far?

Me: I mean, I’m always jotting down ideas. I was thinking the categories could be: “Real Life” - like the everyday stuff of marriage, motherhood, career, and friendships.  

Angelina: Yes. For sure. Endless entertainment. 

Me: And then “Great Escapes” - where I could share details from some of our travels. 

Angelina: Of course. You have great travel adventures! That’s a really good one. 

Me: And what about “Words with Friends?” I could share the things that I talk about with friends when we get together. I’m thinking about my neighbor who went through a health crisis with her husband and how it impacted her entire family, a friend who confided in me after being the victim of a crazy scam, or even the wild stuff strangers tell you on airplanes. 

Angelina: I love that. I can think of a few good ones. You’d have to change names though! 

Me: For sure. Maybe there should also be one for “My Favorite Things” where I could share links to, uh, some of my favorite things. 

Angelina: I’m loving this so far. You’re the best. 

Me: No, you are. 

Angelina: Look at us being the best. 

Me: I know. What a blessing. Thanks for always supporting my ideas. 

Angelina: Always. 

Me: You’re such a good human. 

Angelina: Awe. So are you. 

Me: Wouldn’t the world be a better place if everyone just supported each other like this?

Angelina: HEY! This should be one of your “Words With Friends” posts. 

Me: Excellent idea! This would be the perfect start!

Angelina: Just jump! 

Me: I’m going to go do it right now. 

Angelina: Get it girl!

Me: Love you!

Angelina: Love you too!
